Professional Background

Scott manages Portico’s Merchant Banking practice, which includes selected M&A and recapitalization projects, as well as the Firm's principal investments. He brings to Portico nearly a decade of investment banking experience in M&A, financing and private equity sponsor coverage along with an additional 7 years as a principal in private equity. Scott has been involved in over 100 transactions serving roles as M&A advisor, principal investor, and financier.

Most recently, Scott spent seven years in private equity as a Managing Director at Leeds Weld and a Principal at Monitor Clipper Partners. At these firms, he invested over $360 million in eleven investments involving over $2 billion in total value. Many of these investments were in the Information and Business Services industry.

Prior to his private equity experience, Scott was part of the M&A group at Smith Barney (now Citigroup) and later with Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. While at Smith Barney, Scott worked closely with Rick Northrop and his team on various buy- and sell-side assignments in the Information & Business Services industry.
